More About Qatar

Qatar, your host for the FIFA World Cup 2022™, welcomes you with open arms to a land of culture, heritage, innovation and a great love for football.

The Pearl-Qatar

A destination not to be missed, this island was designed with the Mediterranean in mind and has even been described as Doha's own 'little Venice'. Discover unique shopping experiences, entertainment and high-end dining. You can also visit the Pearl Monument, a tribute to 'pearling', which used to be one of Qatar's main industries. This man-made island is 350m offshore from West Bay, in central Doha.

The Corniche

Extending for 7km along Doha Bay, the Corniche connects West Bay and Downtown Doha. You can walk or cycle the waterfront promenade and take in the many impressive landmarks en route. Start at the Dhow harbour, then see the Museum of Islamic Art and finish at the Sheraton Hotel Park.

Souq Waqif

Souq Waqif is a vibrant hub of winding alleys built on Doha's centuries old trading market, offering a more traditional view of the city. Barter with the retailers for anything from shoes to handicrafts and artefacts from around the region. Shop for whole and ground spices, alongside woven fabrics, rugs, wooden furniture and even glass ornaments that are made in workshops in the adjacent Gold Souq. Here, you can browse traditional jewellery and everyday styles. Once you have finished exploring, relax in an outdoor café and soak in the atmosphere as the souq transcends from day to night.

Katara Cultural Village

Qatar boasts an abundance of cultural locations but none quite as varied and inspiring as Katara Cultural Village. The area is the main destination for art, culture and high end cuisine here. Stroll around and you will find two beautiful Mosques, Katara Masjid and the Golden Masjid. The gem of the cultural village is the stunning Amphitheatre with its classical Greek style that reflects Islamic influences throughout. A must see.

The Museum of Islamic Art

MIA is a prominent feature of Doha’s Corniche waterfront. This iconic building is an incredible fusion of traditional Islamic architecture and the 21st century. Head here to see an array of temporary and permanent exhibitions spread across four floors, including a heritage library, plus various special events throughout the year.
